Ready for tax time?

The Internal Revenue Code (Code) doesn't provide a comprehensive list. Rather, the Code simply states that you may deduct what is ordinary and necessary for your business. It is up to you to determine what is ordinary and necessary; and...

Beginning of the End for the Old-Time Record Store Fan

By Mark Saxon, East Coast Project Manager

Virgin Records in NYC

The Times Square Virgin Megastore in New York, which is the highest volume music store in the U.S., will shut down in April, according to a story in a recent Billboard article.

The article cites real-estate problems as the cause, stating that Virgin is paying far less per square foot than the real estate is worth.

The closure would leave the Virgin chain with just five stores, and the status of another of its' stores, also in New York, may also be in jeopardy.

A Course Description Note From Jeff:

“The focus of the songwriter’s workshop will be to develop each of the student’s songs by discussing the craft of what makes a hit song. I will be talking about song structure, lyrical content and demo production. We will go into detail on everything involved in the songwriting process but will emphasize the importance of writing a signature song. I will also encourage student feedback on all of the songs so that we can have a group involvement in the class. The goal is to have each writer complete a song in the 4 sessions so that they can move forward on the demo.

I will also discuss the art of selling a song which I feel is as important as writing a great song. One of the areas that I feel very connected to is how to get your work in the market place. We will go into detail on achieving that goal and the focus is to be as persistent with the business side as well as the creative side.

I look forward to the workshop and am grateful to be able to share my experiences with all of you. Thank you.”
