International Coalition of  Music Creators Expresses Dire Concern Over “Unworkable” DOJ Solutions

(WASHINGTON, Sept. 2016 ) Music Creators North America, on behalf of the world's largest international coalition of songwriters and composers, is expressing elation over the decision yesterday by Federal Judge Louis Stanton to reject the so-called "full works licensing" mandate recently announced by the US Department of Justice.;

According to co-chairs Rick Carnes and Eddie Schwartz, "on behalf of every one of our half-million affiliated music creators worldwide, we congratulate Broadcast Music, Inc. on this tremendous victory and commend its entire legal team for its superlative work. Judge Stanton has done an enormous service for the world's songwriters and composers by overruling the arbitrary and misguided full works licensing mandate previously announced by Department of Justice that intruded egregiously on collaboration and the creative process."

MCNA also commended its member, SONA (Los Angeles), on its recent, independent efforts to pursue justice through the courts on this same issue. "Our community of composers and songwriters speaks with its own voice," MCNA Co-Chair Rick Carnes stated, "and we know how to do that, above all other things, to tremendous effect."
