Tell me,

Do you remember the time?

When we were younger and I could do no wrong in your eyes,

But first I’ll say that I’m a little surprised

That I could admit this because of my pride,

It’s pretty amazing what a few years can do

You can go to sleep a King and wake up the fool

And I’ve only ever wanted what was best for you

I just thought you could have been best for me too

Some days feel like weeks

And I’ve been here for months

The nights last forever since the sun won’t come up

But I’m holding onto you and what could have been

The Past won’t catch up cause its wheels don’t spin….

Its time to go home now

Everyone’s leaving

The castle is barren, the ballroom is empty

I just wanted one more dance with you,

But it seems midnight just came way too soon.

“I miss you” doesn’t really say what I mean

Nobody just gets over a pristine beauty queen

And you never really cared for the pageants or fashion

But still had the makings of a Hollywood classic

Of course, you always preferred the stage lights

Where we both thought, we could make it with a chance and a mic

But I’d give up the guitar, and the stage, and those dreams

Cause I could never trade your touch for those cold steel strings

And yeah, I understand everything that would mean,

But your voice and your laugh are the only music I need

Its time to go home now

Everyone’s leaving

The castle is barren, the ballroom is empty

I just wanted one more dance with you,

But it seems midnight just came way too soon.

Tell me you remember, if you ever look back

When we thought, we had our fairytale within our grasp

for once the whole world had agreed with my plan

and when I held you, the sun was in the palm of my hand

But it burned too bright, too soon, and too fast

And I couldn’t contain it, so we both burned to ash

I talk too much and I overreact

I think I’m so smart, but ignore the fact

And think how I’ve put myself in this place

But I promise you this if ever comes the day

When you decide that you want to come back to me,

With every fiber and ounce of my being

I won’t take you for granted, won’t ever abandon,

Always hold your hand so that you’ll never have to

Question how much you mean to me,

Never wonder your worth, never doubt your esteem

And maybe things will be as good as they seem

But of course, this all just in my fantasy

The reality is I’m still here by myself

The magic ran out, and the clock struck 12.

James Porterfield Isaac! I am curious, is there an MP3 of this song? Just wanted to know if I could hear it or if it is just a lyric you want us to look at? Let us know! 7 years ago
