So many of us are in the same boat: we're putting our work out there and trying to get it heard. And how do we feel when no one takes notice? Pretty lousy. So keep this in mind when you're looking at the work of others. Find some songwriters/musicians/performers you really like. Find bloggers whose opinions you value. Find critics you feel are really passionate about music. Follow them and make intelligent comments about their work that shows you've genuinely paid attention. Sign your comments with a link to your own social media sources and place your music on those sources. Eventually the band or blogger will come to recognize you as a source of real feedback and when you're ready to post your own music and events, they'll repay your efforts.
